Painting still life to me is about stopping to appreciate the minutiae of life, to perceive the sublime beauty of the commonplace. Rock, butterfly, rose, salt shaker, toad or shoe; all possess either a symmetry, proportion, countenance or even distortion which can be rendered in a painting as an interesting, beguiling piece of art.
